Change is something many of us avoid like the plague. Then there are those of us who embrace it or even desire it. For the largest number of us "We remain the same until the pain of staying the same exceeds the pain of change". Does this hit a nerve?

I have always been one of those who embrace change. Change really is good.

What I've learned for those of you who resist change is this.

You're not really afraid of change You're just not certain of your abilities You're more afraid of failure than change There are people in your life that just don't believe in you Your overwhelmed with a to do list you have no interest in This is my response to these reasons to resist change Afraid - Fear is your friend.

Anytime you feel fear this means your about to do something big that is creating the nervous tension and this just like all big moments in your life makes the nerves heightened!

Abilities You don't know until you're taught You can't expect to know how to do something new until you learn the ropes, so relax and understand we never stop learning.

Failure All successful people have reportedly failed and failed again. It is the only way to success and apart of the learning process. No one would ever ride a bike if they rejected failure. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!

Non Believers Other people opinions of you are none of your business. Only you must believe in your direction.

Over Whelmed Learn to stop and take a moment to consider what others are asking of you before you say yes. You should always say "NO" (without any explanation) to all things you don't want to do. Time is precious!

Note: those asking you know their pushing and a NO is most often expected.

Now you realize how to make better life changes and even more Importantly, that change is good.

Katie, What you said about fear being your "friend" is so true. If you fear to go to places unknown, you get stuck in a rut and dragged down. A healthy fear is a good thing!!  It allows you to experience more of life.
